Musical visionary, street preacher, incendiary political activist, and Afro-beat progenitor, Fela Anikulapo Kuti is the motivation to this week’s Music Monday Soundcloud mixtape. Also included is Papa Wemba, who’s pioneering blend of African, Cuban and Western sounds became one of Africa’s most popular music styles. Papa Wemba helped modernise Congolese rumba music, with the genre that emerged – soukous – influencing music across Africa. Known as Mama Africa and the Empress of African song, Miriam Makeba’s “Pata Pata” makes this week’s 8 track mixtape, paying tribute to the Legendary South African singer and outspoken opponent of apartheid regime from the 1960s till its dismantling in the early 1990s.

Here is this week’s set, give it a spin! And hope you enjoy!
