Be A Real One, In A World That Seems to Have Very Few
Recently, I had an experience that led me to reflect on this phrase, “…It’s a big world but a world with few real ones.”
“…It’s a big world but a world with few real ones.”
In an attempt to find perspective, I ask myself, is it true that there are more real ones than there are not? Or is it simply the fact that it takes time to build trust? Even in the long stringent process of becoming, of learning, of getting to know in 2 weeks or even 2 years, odds tell us that for an estimate of every 5 humans on this earth with an open heart we might truly find at least 3 who embody qualities of true authentic friendship.

Relationships — professional, platonic, romantic, familial, and with self, are complicated already to begin with. I’m a believer that we attract what we think we deserve. So if we consistently deem ourselves worthy of true authentic kinship or unconsciously the opposite then we must do the work of true meaningful relationship building. That’s not based on convenience but truly embody the standards we’ve placed on ourselves for what it means to show up and be a real one in our own life.

Like 2 PAC told us, “real eyes realize real lies”. So in a world that seems to have very few, always choose the call to be a real one. In a world of fleeting moments and connections, choose to be the captain of your own ship on the voyage of unearthing the truth in the sea of inauthentic and self-serving entanglements. Because to have real eyes, is to truly realize real lies even if experiencing life otherwise would mean truly living in blissful ignorance.
